New Windsor Wheel rolls into town
6 August 2008
The Royal Windsor Wheel has returned to Alexandra Gardens for its third successive year. This year welcomes a totally new wheel to the Thames Riverside for an extended stay spanning the summer and autumn months, allowing visitors the chance to enjoy the spectacular panoramic views whatever the weather, from the comfort of their air-conditioned capsules. The new Wheel is open till Sunday, 2 November, daily from 10am-10pm.
Visitors can soar over 60 metres above historic Windsor, with breathtaking views over the Castle Battlements, the River Thames and the stunning countryside beyond. On a clear day or night you can even see as far as the gleaming arch of Wembley Stadium and the glittering skyline of Central London. Featuring the cutting edge in Observation Wheel technology and beautifully illuminated by night, the Windsor Wheel offers an unforgettable and awe-inspiring experience for everyone, and a unique venue for a special celebration or event. Visitors can also enjoy a glass of Pimms or Champagne at the licensed Café Bar.
Over 200,000 people experienced a flight in the Wheel over Windsor in 2007, and this year is sure to be just as popular. The Wheel is situated at the eastern end of Alexandra Gardens. Each of the 36 capsules can seat up to 6 adults and 2 children in comfort or for the ultimate flight to remember, a VIP Champagne Capsule can be booked featuring leather seats, glass floor and DVD player, seating up to 4 persons. Each flight will encompass a number of rotations and will last approximately 12 minutes.
Advance bookings can be made at www.royalwindsorwheel.com or can be booked in person at the Wheel between 10am-10pm subject to availability. It is anticipated that weekends will sell-out extremely quickly so advance booking is recommended to avoid disappointment.
