Boyer Leisure

Welcome to the Boyer Leisure Venue’s website..

We are currently in the process of updating every venue and when complete you should be able to view the lakes from various swims as well as see a slideshow of some of the fish caught from the waters.

On the permits page you will also find that you are now able to download and print a permit application form which you can post along with twp passport photo’s.

Over the last twelve months we have been keeping to our re-stocking plans and some really beautiful fish have been introduced into Boyer venues waters from our fish farms.

Harefield Lake received nearly fifty hand picked Carp, mostly consisting of heavily scaled and starburst Mirrors this stocking supplements the previous stocking and if the new fish follow a similar growth pattern then things are looking good for Harefield.

Rodney Meadow received over a hundred fish, this introduction has been planned since the losses we incurred when the lake suffered serious oxygen depletion due to a blue green algae crash a couple of years ago. We delayed the restocking for a year so that we could ensure the measures put in place to try and prevent a repeat were effective.

The new stocking included carp to low twenties and all those members who were present when the fish went in agreed that they were some of the most fantastic looking fish they had ever seen. With the amount of naturals present in Rodney Meadow and the quality bait going in the new fish should thrive in their new environment and Rodney Meadow will be a step closer to being what it once was.

Stockley Lake also received a small stocking of new Carp and a few of these fish have already visited the bank, we will continue to monitor growth records and may consider a further stocking later in the year.

Thorney Pool reopens properly this season and has been restocked with both Carp and a large amount of silvers, containing fish of up to 29lb Thorney will return to the popular small venue it used to be.

At Farlows Lake it’s all change as Boyer Leisure have taken over the running of the Herons Point Complex, after closing for refurbishment, including the building of new showers and toilets, the new Lakeside Café opened in February this year and the new bar will be open by the time you read this. It is our intention to extend the café opening hours over the summer and we are currently looking at arranging swim deliveries for a range of evening meals.

On the fishing side at Farlows Lake we have continued to remove huge amounts of silver fish from the main lake and transfer them into the match lake. Over five tons of silvers have now made the short journey from main to match lake and the match anglers fishing are already reporting bags of over a hundred pound. The removal of the silvers from the main lake will reduce the competition for food and increase the weight gain of Farlows Carp population and should help produce the forty pounder we are so close to!

Farlows Lake will once again host a qualifying round of the British Carp Championships in April and later in the season we plan to start inviting some names to give talks in the Lakeside Bar.

That’s about all for this years introduction so all that remains is to wish you all a good season and tight lines!

Charles
