CEH is the UK's Centre of Excellence for research in the land and freshwater environmental sciences. CEH's staff have specialist skills in a wide range of environmental disciplines, ranging from the smallest scale (the gene) to the largest scale (whole Earth systems)

The National River Flow Archive website www.ceh.ac.uk/data/nrfa/index.html contains information on the UK river gauging station network, and includes downloadable river flow data and other information for the Thames. Other data centres have information which may be of use, available on request e.g. the Land Cover Map 2000, spatial land use data. www.ceh.ac.uk/sections/seo/lcm2000_home.html. Many staff at CEH work on the River Thames and the Thames catchment, and may be able to offer assistance with queries regarding any scientific/environmental issues relating to the river. Number of programmes offered to schools
No programmes offered specifically. Usually the site runs a National Science Week programme in March, which is attended by local schools. During Science Week, a number of activities for KS2 and KS3 students are offered, for example, interactive experiments focusing on environmental issues. Science week normally also involves a public open day.
