Hampton Court Palace is situated along the banks of the River Thames. It is the story of two palaces: a Tudor palace magnificently developed by Cardinal Wolsey and later Henry VIII, alongside a baroque palace built by William III and Mary II.

Location details
Hampton Court Palace is located next to the River Thames to the south west of London. It is within the M25 and about 6 miles from the start of the M3 and about 8 miles from the start of the M4. Look out for the brown attraction signs that direct you to Hampton Court Palace
Opening hours
Palace and Maze: 10am to 6pm or 4.30pm

30th March - 25th October: 10am to 6pm, 28th October - 29th March: 10am to 4.30pm
Family admission
The ticket includes access to the palace, maze and gardens, plus a multi-language audio guide, costumed guided tours, children's activity trails, entry to the Young Henry VIII exhibition and much more! Adults £13.30, Children £6.65, Concessions £11.30, Family (Up to 2 adults and 3 children) £37.00
School admission
£3.50 per pupil (Age 16 yrs and under), £5.00 per student (Age 17 yrs +), Adults accompanying education groups are admitted free of charge up to a ratio of one to every ten pupils (Admission to maze is not included in education rates)
Shop
The palace gift shops, located in Base Court and the Barrack Block are very popular with younger visitors. Both shops contain similar merchandise suitable for school children
Cafe/Lunch facilities
The palace has several lunchrooms available of varying size. You'll be alloacated a room appropriate to your group size when you book

Parking
Coach parking is available on Hampton Court Green. On site car park for cars and mini-buses (no larger than 10 seats) for a fee of £3.50 for the first 3 hours and £0.50 for every hour after that
Toilet
There are a number of on-site toilets within the palace. All are fully wheelchair accessible
Access by public transport
By train: South West Trains run services direct from London Waterloo to Hampton Court. The journey takes only 35 minutes and the palace is a 200 metre walk across the bridge from the station. The train service passes through Wimbledon station, where the London Underground District Line begins. Hampton Court is in Travel Zone 6. Bus Routes: 111, 216, 411, 451, 461, R68, 513, 718

Family and Children programmes - Description
Family Learning Sessions at Hampton Court Palace October, February and May half terms and Easter Holidays
Family and Children programmes - Age Group
7-11 year within an intergenerational context. Creative arts and crafts sessions, run on a drop in basis for c. 20mins. The following are examples of the types of sessions we run - Sessions change reguarly. Familes have the opportunity to design T-shirts, make Tudor hats and make badges, painting and drawing classes. All arts sessions use parts of the building and the people who lived at Hampton Court Palace as inspiration for the art that is created in family groups. Families also have the opportunity to handle objects and try on replica costumes to become part of the Tudor court at the palace
Annual events or regular events
Family focused live interpretation at the palace half term holidays, Easter, Christmas and through the school summer holidays. Big Draw - October 2008

Notes
Free preliminary visit tickets: For every booking you'll receive a voucher for two preliminary visit tickets per booking. Tickets are valid for any day up to the date of your visit. Teachers are also provided with comprehensive visit information packs after confirmation of a booking.
