Cream teas with a view

1. On a hotel terrace...

Afternoon teaIt's easy to see why people have been staying at the Swan at Streatley since the 1800s. The views of the weir and the landscaped gardens are hard to resist on a summers day.  Give in to the genteel atmosphere and enjoy a cream tea in the finest of settings. 

2. At a lock...

Iffley Lock, Oxford - pretty views, lots of ducks, and of course the famous university rowing teams are all here at Iffley lock. This outdoor cafe has a seating area overlooking the weir. There are lovely walks to the centre of Oxford. Try a boat trip with Salters Steamers when you get to Folly Bridge.  

Sonning Lock - a very pretty spot to enjoy a cream tea, and not far from the famous theatre; Mill at Sonning. This site is a short walk from the charming village with its handsome 1700s bridge; an architectural gem that's provided inspiration for many artists.

Shiplake Lock on River ThamesHurley Lock - with a campsite on the doorstep, this pretty lock is the perfect place to enjoy the view then rest your sleepy head after gorging on too many cream teas. Or if you would rather burn off the calories, take a walk around the delightful gardens at nearby Danesfield House.

Shepperton Lock - a very popular spot! Lovely views and lively boating will enhance your cream tea experience, which is served by the friendly lock keeper's family. Look on in envy at their lovely riverside house, spot the resident owl and marvel at the gleaming cruisers as they arrive here by the dozen. Better still, take a boat trip with JGF Passenger Boats.  

3. On a boat...
