February Family Fun

Keep your little ones entertained this half term with lots of fun-filled events and activities along the River Thames.

Forget the TV, get out and active this half term at Longridge outdoor activity centre.

Enrol the kids in a 2-day introduction to rowing course, fantastic for absolute beginners.

Or try out a Longridge activity day. The kids will take part in at least 4 outdoor activities including climbing, Jacobs ladder, giant swing, leap of faith, disc golf, crate stacking, rowing and puzzle challenges.

The River and Rowing Museum in Henley is offering a variety of half term sessions, with something to suit everyone.

Princes, Princesses and Peas (16 February): Hear the story, and then make a prince or princess treasure box to hold your special things. Age 4-7, £8.50.

Willow Pattern Plate (17 February): This magical story is told through hand-made wooden puppets, changing scenery, music and sound effects. Children can then get creative by making their own willow plate. Age 7-11, £8.50.

Silver Stallions (18 February): There are several gold and silver horses in the museum collections. Join in the trail to find them. Learn how to make your own relief of a horse in brass and aluminium foil. Age 7-11, £8.50

Henley: Medieval Mayhem to Victorian Villainy (20 February): Celebrate over 800 years of Henley history with a Medieval knight, Tudor spice merchant, Civil War Yeoman's wife, Georgian storyteller and Victorian lacemaker. Lots of period crafts and activities. Travel through time by playing the giant Henley History Game.

Take a spooky tour of Hampton Court Palace, or learn about bedtime for the Kings and Queens of the past.

Ghost Tours (14, 19 & 21 February): Experience the unique atmosphere of Henry VIII's State Apartments, including the infamous Haunted Gallery, and creep through the deserted courtyards - if you dare! (Not suitable for under 12s)

Kids' Ghost Tours (19 & 21 February): How much do you really know about the spooky palace past? Creep your way, around dark corners, and hear stories of kings and queens from long ago. Age 8-12.

Bedtime at the Palace (13-21 February): Hear about the Princess and the Pea, and join Hairy Henry for a tour about beds and bugs. Try out the new family trail packs about dreams and dragons or make your own mini-bed fit for a king or queen.

Enjoy half term with a National Trust wildlife walk and ghost tour.

Half Term Family Fun (17-21 February): Fun activities based around the theme Statues and Stone Work.

Wildlife Walk (19 February): Take a bracing walk through the grounds of Basildon Park and learn about the wildlife that flourishes there.

Family Ghost Tours (15-16 February): Take a ghost tour at Ham House and discover the stories of the residents that never left. Adult £8, Child £6.

Become a knight at Windsor castle with a fantastic activity train and a chance to design your own armour.

Royal Knights (16-21 February): Follow an activity trail through the State Apartments to find out lots of interesting facts about armour. Design your own armour using ideas from those you saw during your visit.
