Dorney Lake

Dorney Lake

Type: Sports Ground

Dorney Lake is a 2,200 metre flat water rowing lake owned by Eton College. Used for international regattas, and indeed the 2012 Olympic Venue for Rowing, Adapted Rowing and Flatwater Canoeing, the Rowing Lake is also available for use by other organisations and clubs.

Rowing and canoeing courses and camps are run by the Club as well as team-building activities organised by the hospitality team. Contact the club directly for more information.

Dorney Lake also hosts six Triathlons a year, which are very popular with competitors and supporters alike. See the What's On section of this website to find out more.

As well as the watersports themselves, the grounds of the lake are open for cyclists, joggers and walkers. As part of the lake's construction a Park and Arboretum have been developed with an ever-growing array of flora and fauna.

Public Transport Directions

By Train

Main stations for the Lake are Slough and Windsor & Eton Riverside but it is also near Burnham, Taplow and Maidenhead.

Slough, Burnham, Taplow and Maidenhead are on the main line west from Paddington Station, London. '125' trains take some 17 minutes to Slough (next stop Reading). Other trains, with variable stopping patterns, take 25 or 40 minutes.

Waterloo Station, London, serves Windsor & Eton Riverside Station with stopping trains taking about an hour. (Note: this station should not be confused with Windsor & Eton Central Station, which is on a branch from the Paddington/Slough line mentioned above).
