Local children set to transform Norden Farm into a seascape this summer
Norden Farm is delighted to announce an art project which involves over 900 local school pupils this summer. The Maidenhead venue will work with the children to create artwork which will transform the arts centre into an underwater paradise. The project forms part of Norden Farm’s Beach installation.
Local visual artist Benedict Romain will be working with the local primary school students to create a range of artworks inspired by what lies beneath the sea. They will be making modroc monsters, pirate and mermaid statues, underwater casting and tape-cast mermaids.
The works of art will go on display in the Gallery at Norden Farm to form the summer exhibition, Beneath the Waves. The exhibition is an interactive part of Norden Farm’s renowned Maidenhead Beach installation, created on the site every summer.
The exhibition is put together by Norden Farm’s young curators. It is designed to complement the sandy beach outside by diving underneath inside to discover a magical world of mermaids, underwater creatures and sea monsters.
Beneath the Waves will also feature the creature from the deep, which was decorated by children and families during the recent Art on the Street event in Maidenhead Town Centre.
