DOG WALKS ON THE THAMES PATH
Our furry friends are the best companions to share a walk on the Thames Path with, and there are plenty of places for them to enjoy both lead and off lead walkies.
Much of the Thames Path runs through private land, including farmers fields, so check out our top tips below of how we can share the trail peacefully with other animals.

TIPS FOR WALKING YOUR DOG ON A NATIONAL TRAIL
- Our trail is beautiful but has a host of dangers for our four legged friend - deep water, electric fences and the chance of livestock mean that you must always keep your dog in sight – or on a lead if they don’t have good recall.
- Always clip dogs on a short lead around sheep, cows and horses, irrespective of how well trained your dog is. It’s less stressful for the livestock, your pooches and you!
- Not everyone is a fan of dogs, so please don’t let your dog run up to strangers – we don’t want people panicking near the riverbank.
- Always pick up poop – its cleaner, plus other animals can become sick eating it.
