Ferryman, Shepperton-Weybridge Ferry
Available on request for 500 years,
from Shepperton to Weybridge.
Pedestrians, children, horses, bicycles.
Just three miles to cross, the short
swirl of river to the other side,
all subject of course to weather and tide.
But the ferryman is seasoned, he has
dead-set eyes and a deliberate purpose.
Ring the bell on the quarter hour
to let him know you are waiting
patiently there on the other side,
all subject to weather and tide.
He knows you are waiting,
the ferryman always knows you are waiting.

SHEPPERTON-WEYBRIDGE FERRY
The oldest Thames ferry is the one at Shepperton-Weybridge, an extraordinary 500 years old. Ferries evoke the myths and stories of antiquity, especially the famous Greek myth of Charon, the ferryman who takes the dead across the River Styx to the underworld.
Nauticalia Marine Services located at Shepperton Lock runs the Pedestrian Ferry every 15 minutes on request from the Ferry Point. There has been a service at this point for around 500 years; enabling people walking or cycling the Thames Path to continue their journey past Shepperton Lock, without being diverted by the Wey Navigation.
Boat Launching & Removal from River, Moorings & Boatyard Hardstanding, Boat Cleaning & Anti-fouling, Trailboat Storage, and Calor Gas are also offered by Nauticalia Marine Services.
