Agatha And The River, Wallingford
Murder in every corner
of this quiet market town.
Agatha sits watchful on a park bench,
plotting endings.
She’s told the answers to river,
tight-lipped, silent river,
flowing sweetly on –
who’d guess how the red blood
flows, where the bodies
tip and roll?

WALLINGFORD
Wallingford was famously the last home of the crime writer Agatha Christie. Her statue in the centre of Wallingford shows a little old lady sitting on a park bench, but her mind was plotting death and destruction.
The wealth of independent shops, historical connections and traditional English architecture make Wallingford a perfect weekend get-away. No wonder it features so many times in the quintessentially English TV series, Midsomer Murders.
Explore the Midsomer connections with a downloadable walking trail or find out more at the Wallingford Museum which also has an exhibition on Agatha Christie.
Wallingford Murder Mystery Weekend – 22 to 24 May
Wallingford will host a special Murder Mystery Weekend from Friday 22 May to Sunday 24 May, marking the 50th anniversary of Agatha Christie’s death at Winterbrook House.
A range of events will take place across the town, celebrating the life and legacy of the Queen of Crime, with activities for all ages.
