BABLOCK HYTHE
Bablock Hythe has been an important crossing point of the river since Roman times. In West Oxfordshire, it is 5 miles from Oxford. Now it is dominated by a large caravan park for temporary visitors to the river - Bablock Hythe Caravan Park.
The Ferryman Inn is situated halfway between Oxford and Witney on an ancient Thames crossing point at Bablock Hythe, made famous by Matthew Arnold’s poem of meeting the Scholar Gypsy whilst crossing back to Oxford.
