Navigating the Henley to Shiplake diversion route just got easier, thanks to a collaborative effort led by the Thames Path Team of Roger and Clare, plus two dedicated volunteers Roger and Martin. Together, they installed a new fingerpost in Hambledon Woods, a key point along the Thames Path diversion that had previously left many walkers unsure of the correct direction.
This simple yet impactful addition is already making a difference. The new signpost addresses one of the most common pieces of feedback we’ve received: that the diversion route was difficult to follow in places. With clearer wayfinding, walkers can now explore the path with greater confidence and safety, enhancing their overall experience and encouraging more people to enjoy this beautiful stretch of countryside.
But the benefits go beyond navigation. By involving our local volunteers in the installation, this project fostered a strong sense of community ownership and pride. It’s a great example of how small actions, driven by local people, can have a meaningful impact on public spaces and shared environments.
