Port Meadow – A Perfect Summer Walk!

Port Meadow is a lush green haven in the centre of Oxford. With its fields of grazing cattle, the meadow with its birdlife and the wide river meandering through its heart, it relaxes you as soon as you arrive. The area is a natural floodplain of the River Thames, so the Thames Path runs directly though it. It is also one of the largest open spaces in the north of city.

In the summer, the flood plains of Port Meadow are home to many species of cattle, horses and wildfowl. It makes the perfect place to come for a walk, picnic and maybe even a paddle to cool off your feet. There are plenty of spots for a bite to eat too, the famous Perch pub is great for a delicious pub lunch, as are The Trout and the Anchor, all just a short stroll from the greenery.
