Great British Spring Clean on the Thames Path

Be a #LitterHero for the Thames Path and the River Thames by pledging to pick up a bag of litter during the Great British Spring Clean from 21 March to 6 April.

Thames Path National Trail beside the River Thames is a favourite route for #LitterHeroes. In London tons of discarded plastic bottles, food wrappers and drinks cans that are dropped on the Thames Path then collect in the river as the tide ebbs and flows.

It’s very muddy down by the river’s edge and you’ll need to wear wellies, so why not join a Thames 21 River Clean group, and have fun!

River Clean groups meet regularly, when the tide’s out, to clear up the foreshore. Everyone says how good it is to do their bit to clean up the Thames!  https://www.thames21.org.uk/get-involved-2/join-river-clean/

They also record the litter collected to find out where it’s come from, why it’s in the river, and how to encourage people to bin their rubbish.

Putney Tidy Towpath https://e-voice.org.uk/ptt/about-us/ is one of several community groups of local people taking action to resolve the problem of litter and non-biodegradable items on the towpath and on the foreshore at the river’s edge. Join a bi-monthly litter picking session, between Putney Bridge and Queen Elizabeth’s Walk.

Be a #LitterHero and help to keep the River Thames healthy and litter-free all year round
